The Fear of Recurrence group programme aims to help those with a fear of cancer coming back which they find difficult to live with. Fear of cancer recurrence is defined as the fear or worry that cancer will return, progress, or metastasise. This is one of the most reported concerns for cancer survivors. Fear is experienced by many patients following treatment and often lessens with time. However, for some, these feelings can be overwhelming, long-lasting and reduce a person’s ability to lead a life that is meaningful to them. Sessions are led by a clinical psychologist & facilitator. The groups take place over 6-weekly sessions lasting 2 hours each, which are based on a structured psychological approach known as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. This group programme is suitable for people who been diagnosed with cancer and have completed active treatment.
